Year 5-6 boys - School Games Football Tournament
Some of our Year 5-6 boys competed this week in a School Games Football Tournament at St Dunstan's Jubilee.
Our boys did so well, their level of play and maturity really shone and we could have watched them play beautiful football all day long! The 24 teams who competed were put into 3 groups, with 8 teams in.
We won 5 of our matches and drew 2, and not just by a couple of goals. The goals were coming thick and fast and wow what goals they were!! There were rainbow flicks, Rabonas, fantastic saves, and some lovely well put together celebrations!
After our games in our group, we eagerly awaited to hear if we had made it through to the semis. Torridon went through at the top and Kilmorie went through as the best runner up, scoring a massive 31 goals, which secured our place in the semi-finals!
Semi-Final - We played against Torridon, who we drew with in our group, and what a game it was. We had other schools watching and cheering as it was an unbelievable match and Kilmorie ended up winning, coming back from being 1-0 down, they won 4-2 to go through to the finals!!
The Final - our boys met Downderry, it was tough but all boys played their hearts out and never gave up, pushing forward, getting the ball, working together and being amazing!! After a tough final Kilmorie came second and brought home silver medals.
The boys have done Kilmorie, myself and Debbie really proud. The level of play was amazing, the sportsmanship was second to none. Every game the boys made an extra effort to shake hands and congratulate the other team on their efforts, this didn't go unnoticed, as other schools coaches and helpers also praised the team for how well they represented themselves. I am so immensely proud of each and everyone of you boys and you truly are winners in our eyes. You definitely deserved to be in that final and come home with medals!!
