Reception
WELCOME TO KILMORIE RECEPTION 2024 - 25!
We are so excited to meet you all and hope you are too! We hope this information will be useful and you will find the answers to any questions you may have.
Over the months of April - July please expect a few emails and information to prepare you for your September start!
In May we will be arranging visits to your child's current setting or phone calls with their key workers. This will help us to gain more knowledge about your child, particularly their interests and how they communicate and socialise with their peers. To help us with this process you will receive an email, the first week in May, asking for their current setting and a friendship request form. If you do not receive this please email admissions@kilmorie.lewisham.sch.uk to let us know.
During July you will have the opportunity to visit the school with your child for a short stay and play session in our wild garden. This gives the children a chance to be in one of our places of learning, meet new friends and for parents and carers to socialise too. In addition parents and carers will be invited to a brief introduction to Reception meeting so key information can be shared. Your child will also receive a booklet with photos of their classroom, important places around the school and adults they will see.
We will start in September, with an hour stay and play session for the children whilst the adults attend a meeting with the Assistant Head Teacher for Early Phase. Home visits will also take place.
We work hard to ensure your child has a smooth transition into school. If you have any more questions about joining Kilmorie, please contact info@kilmorie.lewisham.org.uk FAO Ashleigh (Assistant Head of Early Phase)

We look forward to seeing you all very soon!
More Information...
Stay and Play
The Stay and Play, in September, is an opportunity for your child to explore their learning environment and meet the teachers. Whilst this is happening the parents will be invited to come to a presentation ran by the Early Phase Lead who will give more detailed information about Reception and the school day e.g. the curriculum, reading, lunches, routines etc. and hopefully answer more of your questions. This event will be an hour long and each class will have a set day, this means the parents get an opportunity to meet one another too.
Home Visits
Home visits are a good way of helping your child settle in and to get to know their teacher and teaching assistant in a setting familiar to them. Although this means starting later than the rest of the school we have found it to be such a valuable experience for your child, having the opportunity to form a relationship with their teachers on a 1:1 basis, that we feel it is worth the time spent. You will receive the date and time of this in June. The home visit will be on one day and last 20 minutes.
We look forward to meeting you all very soon. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us. You can email admissions@kilmorie.lewisham.sch.uk FAO Ashleigh (Assistant Head of Early Phase).
