Year 3 - Dulwich Picture Gallery
Year 3 had a great day, with a walk in Dulwich Park and an inspiring workshop. Studying the painting called 'Vase with Flowers' or 'An Impossible Bouquet’, this is an imaginary bunch as the bouquet could never have existed in reality.
Van Huysum is widely regarded as the greatest still-life painter of his time.
The artist painted on a dark background, believing the flowers and fruit would be seen to better effect.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the trip, here are some quotes:
Alana: "I enjoyed the art when we did the collage because it was fun getting to stick the stuff together and make it unique."
Levi: "At the art gallery I enjoyed looking at all the art and especially the big art."
Amelia: "I enjoyed drawing objects and sticking them onto a piece of paper to make a piece of art."
Alfie: "I enjoyed the art because I was with my friends and we coloured in our pictures."
Arianne: "I loved the paintings on the wall because they looked so good."
"We enjoyed drawing and it was challenging to draw with our non- dominant hand!'"
"We loved exploring colours or texture to create a floral collage."
