Dear Parents and Carers,
What a busy week this has been!
I have to start my newsletter with the Lion King performances; they blew me away! I teared up at both performances and was overwhelmed with the quality of them. I am incredibly proud of all our Kilmorie children. The cast members took it all in their stride and I thoroughly enjoyed the energy of the ensemble. Huge thanks to Rebecca and Emily for pulling off such an amazing performance. I would also like to thank Sam who worked hard behind the scenes sorting the music. The performances were both recorded and photographed – we will share more information next week.
This week’s Senior Leader assembly was led by a group of year 6 children, supported by Dennis. The children first approached Dennis in October to discuss the possibility of leading an assembly for Pride Month. They spent a number of lunchtimes preparing and on Monday confidently delivered their assembly on LGBTQIA+, the history of Pride month and spoke about some local issues. It was most informative and supportive - well done!
On Monday 'Volunteers for Future' delivered an assembly to Year 2. In the 'Threats facing Wildlife' presentation, the children found out why elephants, tigers, orcas and hedgehogs were under threat. They learnt about some of the things that they could do to help these animals.
On Wednesday, the Nursery held their 'Graduation 2023' for the children who are leaving to go to big school. It was so wonderful to celebrate their time at Kilmorie and remember all the fantastic things we will miss about them. Stage, mortar board and certificate ready, the children were dressed for the special occasion and enjoyed all the attention. We wish them all the best! Here are the photos.
Possible new Enrichment clubs: An email was sent on Tuesday this week as we are looking to offer 4 new enrichment clubs for children in years 3-6. These are: Animation, 3D design, Film Making & Roller Skating. However, before we can book the teachers, we need to gauge interest. Please complete this form, before Tuesday 18th July if your child(ren) may find any of these of interest.
Today is Bastille Day in France and we have been celebrating it by wearing the colours of the French Flag. Nasrine set up a French scavenger hunt for all year groups and they have learnt a traditional French game. Much fun has been had by everyone – thank you Nasrine for organising.
Universal Free School Meals: You may be aware that London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, has announced that all primary school children in the capital can receive free schools’ meals for the 2023/2024 academic year. To help us get a better picture of potential numbers the office will shortly be sending out a short survey to complete. Please make sure you complete it, so we can plan accordingly.
School website calendar: if you have already subscribed to the school website calendar for your child/ren’s year group you will automatically be connected to your child’s new year group. If you don’t yet subscribe, you can find out how to here (it’s very simple and quick to do), but please make sure you sign up to do your child’s 2023-24 year group.
Playground safety at drop off and pick up - please can I ask that you remind your children not to run, or ride bikes or scooters on school grounds at drop off or pick up, it is a very busy space and we do not want any injuries.
Don’t forget, next Friday 21st July is the Last Day of Term and school will close at 2pm. There is no WRAP that day.
Whilst it is not your sunny balmy evening, I am still very much looking forward to this evening’s Friends of Kilmorie BBQ.
See you all Monday for our last week of term.
Kind regards
Julie
