Dear parents and carers,
Here we are at the end of a very busy term.
This week we have had lots of Christmas fun.
Monday was the staff panto, and I am not sure whether the staff or the children enjoyed it more! You can see photos here.
This was then followed by a lovely Christmas lunch (and Christmas jumper day) on Tuesday. The children said, ‘this was the best meal ever’. The hall was decorated with twinkly lights and the children enjoyed some festive music while eating.
Yesterday, our year 4 children went to Catford Broadway to watch Jack & The Beanstalk. They had a wonderful afternoon and managed to avoid the rain. I am also delighted that Abi, from year 5, was performing in the show as a bee.
Today we had the leavers' assembly where we said goodbye to a number of staff. It was lovely to hear some memories and what the children will miss most about each staff member. We even had some ex Kilmorie pupils come and say a few words about Kate and it was all very emotional. But as Elaine said, it is just like a good book: when it comes to an end, another one can begin. I am sure you will join me in wishing all the staff that are leaving much success in the next step of their journey, whatever that may be.
Next Term:
With the staff leaving, there will be a few changes when we return in January:
- Dennis will be Acting Deputy Head with responsibility for Assessment and Inclusion.
- Philippa will be starting a new role as Kilmorie’s SENDCo (Special Educational Needs & Disability Coordinator)
- Ashleigh is returning from maternity leave and will return to her role of Early Phase Assistant Head.
- Tery and Shivani will be working for some of their timetables as SEN Teaching and Learning Support Assistants who will be working with different identified needs across the school delivering targeted interventions and supporting children to use the strategies learnt independently in the classroom.
- Alessandra will be working in year 6 and for some of her timetable will be supporting EAL children across the school.
- We will be welcoming Laura, our French teacher who will be working on Tuesdays and Wednesdays teaching French across the school.
- It will be all change in the office as Jo will be leaving us mid-January to take on a senior position at St William of York school. This has meant we are having a rethink with roles and responsibilities. We do have the exciting news that we have 3 new members of staff; Jade, Tammy & Allesha will be joining us during January. I will, prior to their arrival, let everyone know who will be doing what in the office.
- I also have the exciting news that Rachel who teaches in year 5, is having a baby and will be starting her maternity leave at the end of the spring term. We will be recruiting for her cover when we return in January.
- Vicky from wrap has decided that she wishes to spend more time with her family and will be leaving us. Wrap will look a little different as we have split the children into smaller groups to support us with developing the provision. We are currently recruiting for positions and will write to everyone in the New Year outlining who will be where.
Have a wonderful holiday and remember we are back on Tuesday 9th January. I look forward to welcoming you all back.
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday, see you in 2024.
