World Book Day was non-stop this year! Children came in dressed up in imaginative costumes, brought in their favourite books to talk about and across
the school stories were shared and enjoyed

Our day started with two wonderful assemblies where the children met Andrew Weale, an award-winning picture book writer, poet and actor. Andrew was wonderfully energetic and engaging.
We were delighted to welcome our library volunteer team, a dedicated group of Kilmorie parents, to our assembly to launch our brand-new library with a grand opening and ribbon cutting to mark its official opening.
But the excitement didn’t end there! We were also honoured to have Yasmin Ali, a parent of Kilmorie and a poet, who brought along two spoken word artists and performers named Woodzy and Chloe Carterr. They enthused us with lots of performance poetry and audience participation.

Throughout the day the school was filled with excitement about stories and a love of literature. We continued to celebrate the day with author visits to classrooms; reading buddy sessions across year groups, world book day quizzes meandering throughout the school and guest readers reading their favourite books to classes.

The celebration of reading continued after school with the ‘meet the author,’ a giant book sale and a cake sale.
I would like to say a big “Thank You” parents and carers for helping us to celebrate this day. To our library volunteer team for their help and support to make this day special. To the children for their enthusiasm.
The author's visits left a lasting impact on some of our children, inspiring them to delve deeper into the world of literature and imagination. Celebrating World Book Day reminded us of the transformative power of books and the joy of reading. Through events like this, our school continues to foster a love for reading and storytelling, nurturing young minds and igniting their passion for literature.

World Book Day at our school is not just a celebration; it is a testament to the enduring magic of books and the boundless imagination they inspire. Let us continue to cherish the written word, explore new worlds through the pages of a book, and celebrate the joy of reading together.
