There will be a meeting on Tuesday 25th March at 17:00 and repeated on Wednesday 26th March at 08:00. All staff and parents are welcome to come and hear the updates.   

This week:

We held our first Community Allies Art Club at lunchtime, with 24 children from Years 2 to 6 taking part. 

It was amazing to see the enthusiasm and creativity flowing, as the children explored the Allies work through art. 

The children’s masterpieces will be displayed on our dedicated Allies noticeboard, a vibrant space celebrating cultural events, traditions and the diversity within our school community.  

This is a wonderful way to showcase the incredible initiatives happening across the school.

Rhiannon – Year 1 

Aarya A - For her fantastic work in History. Aarya independently completed her timeline on Neil Armstrong.  

Kezia - I would like to celebrated Kezia for sharing with the class interesting facts about space. 

Max - I would like to celebrate Max for demonstrating resilience in all areas of learning.  

Zones of Regulation Certificate 

Zoe - For speaking kindly to others. For also welcoming other children to play with her during playtime. 

Hannah – Year 3 

Amber - I have been really impressed with your maths learning - you are becoming more confident explaining your problem solving and reasoning. 

Max - I am loving seeing the progress you are making in your writing. You are working hard to incorporate the new skills we have been learning. 

Sarah – Year 4 

Bella - for her maths, especially practicing her times tables at home. She has been focusing and trying really hard in class too. 

Onaujae - For his empathy. He has been really supportive of the new child in our class who speaks no English and has been helping her learn words. He has also worked hard on his handwriting, now producing lovely cursive writing.

Rights Respecting Schools Award Update  

As you know, we are a Bronze Rights Respecting School and are on our journey to hopefully becoming Silver: Rights Aware. This is the second stage of the award and is granted by UNICEF UK to schools that show good progress towards embedding children’s rights in the school’s policy, practice and ethos. 

As this journey will involve the whole school community, we intend to provide an update on our Rights Respecting work in most newsletters.  Now that the children have been introduced to the rights in assembly, we will teach them about the articles through linking them to events we are celebrating throughout the year, through assemblies and through their PSHE lessons. 

Last week we linked World Book Day to Articles 17 (access to information from the media), Article 29 (education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full) and Article 31 (every child has the right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities). The children completed activities to show how books and reading support these articles. 

We will display some of their work in our lovely, new library.  The next event we plan to link to the rights is World Water Day, which is celebrated on 22 March.
