Dear Parents and Carers,

A packed week. Our Year 4's had two nights at PGL at Marchants Hill. Rebecca took our Upper Phase Choir to Wembley Arena for Voice in a Million. Shipra’s class went to Mudshute Farm, and we enjoyed Crystal’s class assembly.

We started the week with Pupils’ leading the assembly. They spoke eloquently about the challenges that they faced – from ADHD to Cerebral Palsy to Tourettes to ASC. I was so proud of their courage to speak in front of the children about their personal challenges. I know already that the assembly has had an effect. Other children have reported that they now have a better understanding of the issues that these, and other children, face.

Crystal's Class Assembly

This week’s class assembly was an excellent recap of the Stone Age by Crystal’s class. I was impressed by the children’s acting, singing and dancing, as well as showing their `authentic` recreations of Stone Age art.

Mudshute Farm

Shipra's class year 5 went to Mudchute Farm on the 18th.

Following our learning about animal lifecycles, gestation periods and developmental milestones, the children found out about healthy eating and observed different animals in a farm environment. They absolutely loved feeding the animals (cows, sheep, Llamas, horses and pigs). They also saw a variety of ducks, geese, rabbits and guinea pigs, and roosters from all over the world. It was a beautiful day out!

Year 4 PGL

Year 4 spent a wonderful 3 days at PGL. The sun shone down on us (though it was on the chilly side!). The children took part in a wide variety of activities, including climbing, abseiling, challenge course, zip wire, activity trail, giant swing, sensory trail, eco explorer, camp fire and archery.

All the children met the challenges with a positive attitude and pushed themselves out of their comfort zone. Many developed new friendships and showed empathy for their peers when they felt home-sick or overwhelmed by an activity. Meal times were a time for us all to meet together and everyone left well-fed. The children were a pleasure to be with and all the adults had great fun getting to know them better. At the end of the trip, everyone was exhausted but had experienced a great few days away.

Year 4 - (Non-PGL)

Year 4 had a fantastic time on their trip to Lewisham Bowling and Mayow Park! The children enjoyed some friendly competition at the bowling alley, followed by exciting games at the arcade and a relaxing afternoon in the beautiful weather at the park. They were both great days of teamwork, laughter, and outdoor adventure, making memories that will last!

Swimming

Some of our very talented Year 5 swimmers competed in the Saxon Crown Swimming Gala. This was held at Glass Mill Leisure Centre in Lewisham.

It was such a great afternoon with lots of different swimming events, including 25m Boys and Girls Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly, Breaststroke and 2 mixed relays!

The children did exceptionally well throughout the gala, and we are so proud of them all. Not only are we proud of their swimming, but proud of their outstanding behaviour and sportsmanship to others. The children really did represent all of what Kilmorie stands for: resilience, respectful, empathy and more! The children made it such an enjoyable and memorable event that we can't wait to get involved in again next year.

Other coaches even commented on the impeccable behaviour and attitude shown throughout the tournament. Well done to all the children who really did so well.

At the end of the gala it was announced that Kilmorie came 8th out of 25 other schools. What an achievement!! Thank you to all the parents that came to cheer the team on. We are all thankful for your support.

A special mention must go to Jessica, who won gold for coming 1st out of all the year 5 girls completing in the 25-metre freestyle, backstroke and butterfly heats. Also winning silver for breaststroke and becoming the best year 5 girl in Lewisham 2025. Well done to her!

Football

Some of our year 5/6 girls played in our annual Girls Monday Night Football League this week, being held at Haseltine Primary School.

The girls kicked off their league by playing an intense match against St Barts, and what a performance they put in too!

From the referee's starting whistle to the final whistle at the end of the match, the girls played with such passion and commitment. There were lots of good passes, saves, goals and incredible defending and this showed throughout the whole game and the girls ended up being victorious and walking away with a 3-0 victory.

A big thank you, as always, to the great number of parents that came to watch and cheer on the team. It really does make a difference.

Well done to all girls involved and what a great start to our very exciting league. We are really looking forward to our next game.

Butterflies – Year 1

Pia - For massive improvement in behaviour. You are always listening and focused in lessons now and doing the right thing. Well done!

Melissa - You are such a resilient learner and always try your best, particularly with your phonics and writing. You have worked so hard this term with Neyan in the HUB. Well done, keep it up!

Year 2 – Sarah

Frank - Zones of regulation - for being aware of his feelings and using his toolbox when he is a zone that he doesn't want to be in.

Alfie - for being a focused learner and always putting a lot of effort into his work.

Ellie - for working hard to understand new concepts and putting a lot of effort into her work.

Crystal – Year 3

Romy: For being kind and caring to all members of our class and working collaboratively with everyone. She has also produced some wonderful writing in English.

Xander - For being self aware and taking accountability for his actions and being honest! He has also produce some amazing writing in English.

Shona (Year 5)

Esme - gave a fantastic speech for Neurodiversity week and shared her experiences.

Isaac - has been a very supportive learning partner, showing brilliant collaborative skills.

Posy - is a great role model as she is always 'ready to learn

Penny – Year 6

Brianna – for showing a lot of resilience when writing her persuasive letter as she re-drafted it several times until she was happy with the final version.

Jamal – for showing a lot of resilience when writing his persuasive letter which meant he was able to make many corrections to improve his work as he went along.

Zones of Regulation

Wallis – for being open about how she is feeling and trying different strategies to overcome problems.

Lego set with building instructions

Might your child have a challenging Lego set they no longer use and could donate it to help a child settle in school?

If so, I would be extremely grateful if you would consider dropping it off at the SEN office or main office.

SEN coffee morning reminder:

9:15 on Tuesday 1st April in the library. Sophie from Drumbeat will be attending for a final time. Please save the date and come for a chat and a hot drink. RRSA Update

Today we introduced children to Articles 24 (health and health services) and 27 (adequate standard of living) to coincide with World Water Day which falls on 22 March every year. We discussed why the right to clean water is such an important right and explained that UNICEF works in lots of countries to make sure that children have access to clean water.

Friends of Kilmorie

An exciting update from FOK…

It’s just a week until one of the most fun nights on the Kilmorie calendar (for grown-ups anyway!): our annual quiz, on Friday 28th March. This year, Marchetti — a beloved, parent-run business — will be providing delicious food to keep your brain energised, alongside a fully-stocked bar, plus we’ve shuffled things around so there will be time after the quiz to mix and mingle in the lower hall.

There are still a few tickets available (£20 per person including food, and raising money for OPAL play and other crucial school projects), so book yours now. It’s 6 people max per team, and if you want to join the fun but need teammates, let your class rep know or email friendsofkilmorie@gmail.com and we will matchmake you with a (winning?!) team.

Community Allies

An Update on the upcoming community allies meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday 25th March and repeated on Wednesday 26th March has been pushed back a week. The dates for both meetings will be Tuesday 1st April at 17:00 and repeated on Wednesday 2nd April at 08:00.

All staff and parents are welcome to come and hear the updates.
