Year 5 Cricket Team will represent Lewisham at The London Youth Games

Our fantastic girls worked together as a team and showed all of the Kilmorie qualities with their confidence growing each game.

Some of our amazing year 5 girls took part in a School Games Cricket Tournament on Wednesday 3rd May.

The children were put in a pool and played 3 matches against Twin Oaks, St Georges and Sandhurst, the top teams of each pool went on to play finals and place holder playoffs.

A special mention for Etta and Maddie, who all the girls agreed they were players of the tournament. Primarily for their growing confidence and cricket skills, - even bowling children out towards the end of the games.

After some very exciting games, and winning all 3 of their games, they secured a place in the final against Torridon...and they won! They will now represent Lewisham in the London Youth Games! We are so proud of all the girls for their hardwork and dedication.

It was a very close final, and could have gone either way, but the girls did not let that faze them. They went out and played the same great cricket that they had been playing all day. Proudly receiving their Number 1 medals.

Well done to all the girls involved, I am super, super proud of each, and every one of you. The level of skill and determination was phenomenal. I am so excited for you to join the London Youth Games and I know you will be absolutely brilliant. If you see any of the girls around school, please do ask about their amazing achievement and to congratulate them.

JAne C (COACH)

I was proud to be nominated as captain of the Kilmorie girls cricket team. As this was our first match, we were all a bit nervous, but we quickly pulled together and worked really well as a team. We opened the batting in the first game and scored 73 runs.

It was really fun to captain year 5, and the sunny weather was an added bonus. I would like to give a shout-out to Etta and Maddie because even though they hadn’t played for a while they quickly remembered and were amazing. All the matches went really well, I hope all the girls are proud of themselves.

I am really looking forward to our team representing Lewisham in the London Youth Games. I hope that the sun comes out for all of our games.”
