Curriculum

Curriculum

The Kilmorie curriculum is broad, rich, immersive and purposeful with a balance of both knowledge and skills.

Kilmorie Curriculum Intent:

The intention of our curriculum is to enable our pupils to be successful citizens of the future with a great love for learning that will stay with them for their adult life. As well as academic achievement we strive to develop the children’s emotional intelligence and their ability to communicate effectively. We believe passionately that children should develop an understanding of the process of learning, be reflective and have the confidence to experiment, investigate and explore.

Be brave,

Be inquisitive

Be you...

In order to achieve this, teachers use their expertise in pedagogy, subject knowledge and high-quality resources, including the use of technology and hands-on artefacts. Children have opportunities to work in partners, small groups and individually. This extends their understanding by allowing them to explore and experiment with ideas and to learn from their peers. At Kilmorie we strive to provide an inclusive and diverse curriculum that represents our local community and the history of our islands, which provides opportunities for children to understand the world they live in.

Our curriculum is organised into 5 main areas: The Arts, Humanities, Languages, STEM and Wellbeing. All individual subjects sit under each of these curriculum areas and there is a curriculum lead for each area as below:
